A Few Graphics

Here are a few graphics from the work on Monday and Tuesday. It was wild hearing about how many new texts excellent first grade classes have available each day and how that is important for the Automatic Word Recognition concept. It makes so much sense to me to teach ways to mediate text, because then you can grow exponentially on your own as you practice reading.

Video Assessment Tool

http://www.puredigitalinc.com

The Pure Digital video camera was brought up today as way to provide access to video for assessment. There was good feedback about how it is small and non intrusive. Check it out. You can usually find the 30 minute for around $100 and the 60 minute for a bit more.

Wow!

Already a literacy conversation going on and the course hasn't even started. Your ambition is intimidating. Now what used to be an intense week can go 24/7. If we're not careful, we'll all soon have Karen Erickson's work schedule. Thanks for getting this set up, Ann-Marie. See you all, really and not virtually, in a week.

Welcome Packets

Hi all-
We are working on the welcome packets this week and plan to have them in the mail to you. In the packets you will receive, an itinerary for the week, map of Gainesville, map of campus, parking pass (hopefully) and invite/directions to the Sunday evening event at 5:30 pm. Keep you eyes on the mailbox. See you in a few weeks! --Cathy Z

del.icio.us Account

Great idea to have a blog for the course! In the spirit of the same concept, I created an online bookmarking account through del.icio.us . It is a terrific way to share links and you can then download the bookmarks in to a file, if you would like to use them offline. The account is the same as the blog: http://del.icio.us/literacyinaac The password is 4blocks.
