Check out five new books that work off of a launcher. Also note that they are saved in Slide Show Mode, so that they open right up. What else is important in creating a template system?
Download 5 books (12MB)
Here are directions to:
Save a presentation to always open as a slide show
1. Open the presentation you want to save as a slide show.
2. On the File menu, click Save As.
3. On the Format pop-up menu, click PowerPoint Show.
Note When you open this type of file from your desktop, it will automatically start as a slide show without the presenter tools.

Hey, Sam,
Great books. Thanks for sharing! They work on my pc. Hurray! The launcher, however, does not work. After playing around with this concept of a "bookshelf" for a long time and even seeking the help of the head of our district's technology department, we concluded that a launcher will only work on the computer that it was created on. The links just don't work when you try copying them to another computer.
In addition to PowerPoint,I have also used IntelliSuite, Clicker, and Buildability for book making as well as My Own Bookhelf. Because IntelliTools no longer gives you a free player, I have switched most of our book making to My Own Bookshelf. I can send electronic books home and know that kids will be able to access them on library or home computers.
Barb
Barb,
Yes, I found that out the hard way today. Luckily, before I presented the books to the students, I told my friend to try it out.
I quickly made a disk image and relinked the files onto the disk.
That way, you can transfer it to another computer and keep the linking path the same.
Anyways, I am starting to see what you mean by My Own Bookshelf.
Thanks for the input to the conversation and the blog.
Also, as I am trying to figure out how to create both Mac and Windows friendly disk images, I figure that with the launchers, having to reattach the links is not so bad. I imagine it would take that much to add books to most any program.
It's good to try to work this stuff out!
