Spread the Word, Literacy Course Openings

August 12-17, Karen and I will be teaching a version of this course (major difference is there will be no case studies because the instructional day ends at 3:30) in Pontiac, Michigan. Adapted Camera

At ORCCA website, http://www.orcca.com, you can find info on the Switch-Adapted Kodak EasyShare Digital Camera. Good quality, 3.2 megapixel with 5X zoon and a nice sized 1.5 inch color LCD disply. Cost is $150. They also sell mounting systems for wheelchairs. If you can get by with a tripod you have lots of cheap options at discount stores.

A Few Graphics

Here are a few graphics from the work on Monday and Tuesday. It was wild hearing about how many new texts excellent first grade classes have available each day and how that is important for the Automatic Word Recognition concept. It makes so much sense to me to teach ways to mediate text, because then you can grow exponentially on your own as you practice reading.

The Pure Digital video camera was brought up today as way to provide access to video for assessment. There was good feedback about how it is small and non intrusive. Check it out. You can usually find the 30 minute for around $100 and the 60 minute for a bit more.

Welcome Packets

Hi all-
We are working on the welcome packets this week and plan to have them in the mail to you. In the packets you will receive, an itinerary for the week, map of Gainesville, map of campus, parking pass (hopefully) and invite/directions to the Sunday evening event at 5:30 pm.
